Sports Injury
As a runner, you rely on your body to function at optimal levels at all times. When something is out of whack you feel it immediately. Athletes and dancers are connected to their bodies in ways that most people are not. A slight strain can reduce your time. Sprained ankles will leave you out of commission for a week. When you can’t train and compete you feel like life is progressing without you. Without proper treatment, runner’s knee never quite goes away. Achilles tendinitis can threaten your entire season. Chronic pulled hamstrings will curtail your entire career. At Kingston Chiropractic Services, we’re here to help. We treat the source of the problem without pharmaceuticals and surgery.
The Spine is Where Healing Takes Place The spinal cord transmits information from the brain to the body. It connects to the brain via the brain stem. The spinal cord is wrapped in vertebrae for protection. If muscle or bone is pressing on the spinal cord, the messages sent to the body will be compromised. In many cases, the compression of the spine causes severe pain. We believe that the spine is where long term healing takes place. Licensed chiropractors work with the body to give it the opportunity to heal itself. Through minor 2 millimeter adjustments we create open up the pathway for the brain to communicate freely with your body. Spin Check One of the first things we will do when you enter our office is to observe how you walk. We will look for imbalance. The chiropractor will want to observe you doing simple tasks. If you’re a runner, we will observe you running. If you’re a golfer, we will analyze how you swing. We will study how dancers perform routine movements. After any injury, you should always request a spine check. We will conduct a brief cervical compression test. This helps us to locate the source of the pain. When one segment of your body malfunctions, the rest of your body is forced to compensate. We work to align your spine, pelvis and feet for optimal healing. Range of Motion An athlete must have maximum range of motion to train and compete successfully. When your hips are unbalanced, one leg is forced to do more work than the other. This throws everything out of whack. Your shoulders and neck will even start to lean. No matter how hard you train, your form will be incorrect. If this goes unchecked, the body will establish dysfunctional homeostasis. By balancing the body, we improve your range of motion. A simple pelvic rotation done in one or two sessions will drastically enhance your performance. Keep in mind that there is no such thing as an isolated injury. Better Quality of Life Medical physicians, physical trainers, coaches and athletes assume that pain is a part of the experience. They believe that pain is inherent in competition and training. While the muscles must stretch, chronic pain should not be associated with competing at the highest level. Experience a better quality of life with chiropractic treatments. Instead of shooting you with chemicals that can do long term damage, we allow the body to heal itself naturally. Your body is inherently equipped to heal any malady, disease or malfunction. All you have to do is believe that you can get better and allow us to do our best work. |
