Foot Orthotics
The fact that you pronate is an understatement. Your feet are so flat that they suck up the ground when you walk. When you stand you literally look like you’re sinking into the concrete. All jokes aside, pronating can cause serious spinal and hip issues. Remember that chiropractic treatment is all about aligning the spine. If your feet, knees and thighs are collapsing inward, how do you think that is effecting the vertebrae? Your gait and the way you walk is all effected by the structure of your feet. Orthotics is a passive correction for flat feet.
Treating Extremities Most people think of chiropractic as a treatment of the neck and back. In fact, many chiropractors are stuck in their ways and refuse to treat their patient’s entire body. How would you like to come to us for back treatment and then have to make another trip and take more time out of your week to see a podiatrist? It’s not smart and a waste of valuable time to have to go to two locations to get one treatment. Kingston Chiropractic Services is a progressive firm that believes in treating the entire individual, including the extremities. Flat Feet Defined You’ve always known you have flat feet, but what is it exactly? We typically refer to a region of the foot as an arch. In reality there are several arches in the foot. When laypersons speak of a fallen arch, they are typically referring to the medial arch. The medial arch is the largest and most centrally located. When it collapses, it causes issues in the feet and hip. The problem just keeps working its way up until, eventually, you have issues with your neck. Depending on the severity of flat feet, you may sit differently and even lay differently due to misalignment. What to Expect The first thing that we will want to do is observe how your foot relates to your gait. Flat feet effect heel placement. In correct heel placement puts pressure on your hips. Everyone deserve to walk with great posture – shoulders back, head upright and back straight. People that suffer from flat feet are denied that right. An excellent chiropractor will initiate an encompassing treatment plan. We will recommend foot exercises. Keeping in mind that orthotics is a passive correction, we don’t want the foot muscles to weaken and totally rely upon the orthotics. We have the capability to design custom orthotics for any patient that needs them. Custom vs. Store Bought Orthotics Anything that is custom made is going to be better than a mass produced product and service. We don’t recommend ordering orthotics by mail. The duped that opt for mail order orthotics are sent a mold. After shaping it to their feet, they return it. The company turns around and sends an orthotic that is supposed to be made to order. The problem with this method is the propensity for error. You could make an error during the fitting process which will result in all your efforts and postage stamps being for naught. We fit you in the office. You don’t have to wait long for your orthotics because a lab located in Kingston produces them quickly, thereby reducing the turn around time. |
